Behaviour Focus
Our behaviour focus for Week 10 is:-
RESPONSIBILITY;
WHOLE SCHOOL
- We follow staff instructions
Lost Property
We have a large amount of lost property located in the green buckets outside the medical room. If you have misplaced an item at school, please check the buckets as soon as possible. Items that are not collected by the end of Term will be donated to charity.
Students Late to School
If your child arrives late to school, they are missing critical morning routines and learning activities. The school day begins at 8:40am and students will be considered late if they do not arrive by this time. If your child arrives after 9:00am you are required to enter through the front office and provide us with a reason for the lateness. A late slip will be printed for you to give to the class teacher.
Not Feeling Well?
If your child is not feeling well before school, please keep them home and notify the office by phoning 6206 4200, sending an SMS to 0437 480 486 or emailing somerly.ps@education.wa.edu.au.
Late Collection of Students
Somerly Primary School has a student finish time of 2.45pm each day. If your child has not been picked up before 3pm, you will be required to come to the front office to sign them out.
Woolworths Earn and Learn
Following the Woolworths Earn and Learn promotion that took place earlier this year, we have earned some amazing equipment for Somerly Primary School.
A big thank you goes to all of our families and community members who donated stickers to our school.
Chaplain Chat
Dear Parents
On Wednesday, 4th of December, we had the wonderful opportunity of having some of the students from Clarkson High School, along with their very energetic Chaplain, Scotty, to talk to our Year 6 students about what to expect when they go to high school next year. Various activities were completed to explain change they could expect in high school as well as how it differs from primary school.
The students had a blast and really connected well with both Scotty and the Clarkson students who attended. It seemed that our students were very comfortable asking questions about life in high school and that gave us the opportunity to address fears and misconceptions that were identified. All the students got a turn to ask questions.
Even though this new adventure is still making them feel a bit nervous, I got the impression that they felt more confident going there knowing that the teachers, chaplains, other members of students services and even other students at the high school are there to help them every step of the way.
Kind regards
Marilize Basson ( Chaplain)
