Students Late to School
If your child arrives late to school, they are missing critical morning routines and learning activities. The school day begins at 8:40am and students will be considered late if they do not arrive by this time. If your child arrives after 9:00am you are required to enter through the front office and provide us with a reason for the lateness. A late slip will be printed for you to give to the class teacher.

If you know someone who has a child due to start Kindergarten next year, please let them know that enrolments are open.

Planning for 2018
We are continuing to plan for 2019 and need accurate numbers so we can make up classes and ensure we have enough staff for the beginning of next year. If you know that you will be leaving and haven’t yet advised the school office, please call in and let us know.
Inaugural Dads/Father Figures and Child Event
Bunnings DIY
Our inaugural Fathering Project event was held on the evening of Wednesday 15th August. Dads and their children worked together with wood and tools to create a ‘serving tray’ and ‘pen holder’. A huge thank you to the dads and children for making this event so successful.
A further special mention goes to Bunnings Mindarie, who donated the equipment which allowed this event to go ahead. Frank was very engaging and we look forward to working with Bunnings Mindarie in the future.
We will aim to hold another event in Term 4. More details will be provided via our Newsletter.
One Big Voice
"DON'T YOU KNOW WHAT ONE BIG VOICE CAN DO?
On Friday the 17th of August, 32 students from Somerly joined 2000 other students from around Perth to create ONE BIG VOICE at the Perth Arena.
The group has worked so hard since March to learn eleven different songs, some of which are in parts and also had movements! The choir would meet four times a week, before school and during school and showed so much dedication. On the day, we went to the Perth Arena on the bus (where we practised all our songs on) and arrived to do our first rehearsal as ONE BIG VOICE. We had a little time for lunch before the concert started at 2pm! The whole day was incredible and the group had so much fun.
Miss Olsen is super proud of the One Big Voice choir - their singing, enthusiasm and behaviour was perfect on the day. Thank you to Ms Stenhouse and Mrs Johnstone for joining us and helping out.
Thank you also to all the parents who supported their children in the lead up to the event.
Miss Olsen is sad that there are no more practises to fill up her week, but she is already looking forward to the next one!
