Principal’s Report
Our vision is to foster every individual’s academic and social development driven by high expectations for success and aspirations for them to become resilient, respectful individuals.
Kaya Families,
We are now getting close to the end of the year, and it is important that we maintain our usual school routines to ensure that everyone enjoys the rest of the term.
Thank you for your support during the extreme weather. We spent time teaching students about the importance of looking after themselves in extreme hot weather, including ways to keep cool and precautions to take to stay healthy. We are encouraging students to have a water bottle at school every day, always wear their hat when outside and to apply sunscreen. If your child needs to use a particular type of sunscreen, please ensure they keep it in their bags and teach them how to apply it. Fortunately, the weather forecast has returned to usual Spring / Kambarang weather for the following fortnight.
There has been a tremendous amount of lost property collected over this semester. Our deputy Mrs Shylie Elliot has kindly washed most of the lost property. We have sorted the items with names and will return those to the students. The remainder of clothes that are not identifiable as school uniforms will be placed in the Community Pantry. These clothes are now available to families to take if they need, I encourage you to check these items to ensure if an item belongs to you before it is collected.
If any of our families have good condition uniforms that you would like to donate to the school, we are happy to accept these for students in need.

Somerly PS School Board
On Thursday 30th November at 8:45am the Somerly PS School Board will hold their open meeting. All school community members are welcome to attend this meeting. There will be light morning tea served as we meet and discuss the functions of the school board. There will also be an opportunity for parents and community members to nominate to be a part of the school board. Please let the school office staff know if you can attend so that we can organise catering.
Surveys
You are invited to complete our school survey which will give you an opportunity to feedback your opinions on the effectiveness of Somerly Primary School.
Please take your time to reflect on the last six months, this will ensure that the information is current and will assist us with our ongoing planning. This survey is expected to take 5-10 minutes to complete. This is a Department of Education National survey, that is administered in all public schools. We value your opinions and feedback, thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.

At Somerly Primary School we all work as a team and our students have also been helping mulch our general gardening areas! Well done team!
